Hubballi: NWKRTC Driver Returns Lost Jewelry and Cash Bag, Praised for Integrity
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: A driver-cum-conductor of the NWKRTC transport corporation has demonstrated remarkable honesty by returning a bag containing jewelry, cash, and important documents that a passenger had forgotten on the bus. He was appreciated by officials for his integrity.
Savithramma, a resident of Gondhi Chatnahalli in Shivamogga district, was traveling with her daughter and granddaughter on a bus (KA 25 F 3127) from Belagavi to Hubballi on Friday afternoon. When they got off at Gokul Road bus stop, she accidentally left behind her bag on the bus. She later continued her journey from Hubballi to Lakshmeshwar on another bus, unaware of the missing bag.
As a male passenger attempted to pick up the bag, the driver-cum-conductor, C.S. Siriammanavar, noticed the incident and took the bag into his custody. Upon inspection in the presence of higher officials, the bag was found to contain ₹25,000 in cash, two pairs of silver anklets, an ATM card, and an Aadhaar card. The staff contacted the owner through the phone number on the Aadhaar card and informed her about the lost bag. The bag was later returned to the rightful owner in the presence of officials.
Savithramma expressed her gratitude, stating, “We thought one of us might have taken the bag when we got off the bus. But when we received the call from the transport staff, we were alarmed. Words are not enough to express how thankful we are for their honesty in returning the bag safely, including the money and jewelry.”
Appreciating the staff’s honesty, Divisional Controller H. Ramanagoudar said, “Driver-cum-conductor C.S. Siriammanavar’s dedication to duty has further enhanced the trustworthiness of the corporation among the public and set an example for other employees.”
Divisional Traffic Officer K.L. Gudennavar, Depot Manager T.H. Munnasab, and other transport staff were present during the occasion.
